~Monday Wash Day and Other Adventures~

washdayB

While exploring, Wednesday morning, we stopped at Farris Market, in Camdenton, Missouri, where we saw this old washing machine, thickly planted with coleus, sweet potato vine and other plants. I couldn’t resist taking a couple of photos, then editing them in Photoscape, for Mosaic Monday.

Fall CollageA

Farris Market-Camdenton, Missouri

Three older houses, in Camdenton. The house in the center is a shop. I haven’t visited the shop, but hope to.

The light colored brick house is for sale. I found it online. There were a couple of interior photos. Beautiful rooms.

The detail, in the darker brick, is wonderful!

CakeA

A dessert, I prepared for a get together, set against an Ozark sunrise.

The dessert is just plain old Dump Cake. Two cans cherry pie filling, one can crushed pineapple (drained), dumped into a sprayed 9x13 baking dish. Top the fruit with a 6 ounce package chopped pecans. Spread dry yellow cake mix over fruit and nuts and dot with one stick butter. Bake at 350 F, about 45 minutes or until crust is golden. Serve warm or cold, with whipped topping or ice cream. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

More mosaics are found at Little Red House, each Monday.

We ordered a quick lunch at Culver’s drive-thru, Wednesday afternoon. Molly had a tiny treat. I wasn’t fast enough to get a photo of the milk bone garnish. It disappeared very fast!

Pat, I'm checking in from Mr. Magpie's computer because mine is getting ready to go visit the Geeks. Long story that I won't bore you with now. LOL!

Your pictures are lovely as usual! I love the washing machine shot. That's a very clever repurposing for that wonderful old machine. I can remember my grandmother having one very similar. Love the way they have it planted.

And look at darling Molly! She is such a sweetheart! :-)

Love all the other shots, too, and that dessert looks delicious.

Hope all is well with you in Missouri!

XO,

Sheila (who is still on break) :-)

Beautiful photos again, Pat. I remember my dear mother washing on Mondays in a machine similar to the one filled with plants. I'm thankful for my modern washer and dryer! Gorgeous homes and shop and I love the photo of Molly and her treat. She must have loved it! ~Adrienne~

Love that old washer filled with plants! I love stuff like that! I could junk up my whole backyard with old stuff filled with plants if my husband didn't reign me in LOL!

I love dump cake! Sometimes I make really small one in a ramekin when it's just me.

Great mosaic!

Pat - I love the sweet pumpkins. I used to make Dump Cake frequently but now, I just don't do it as often. Our family likes chocolate "anything" the best so I try to use that type of recipe when they are here. It looks lovely in the goblet. We will head for the lake today or maybe early tomorrow and then on to Branson for four days. We have not been to Silver Dollar City for several years so that should be fun. Have a great day. Give J a hello.

Love when out of the ordinary pieces pop up in gardens. I am waiting for my own to be overflowing enough to hide some 'surprises' in. Love the mosaic. Beautiful homes!

Id like to try the 'Dump Cake'. Never had it before. I am wondering what size cans of fruit you use. Thanks Pat. Always enjoy your recipes at the end of your posts! And that Molly is precious...that was my mother's 'pet' name, Marjorie her full name.

I make this dessert all of the time! My grandmother used to always make this because it was so easy....it's great to make anytime!
Try putting your nuts on after the yellow cake mix then the butter. The nuts turn out all toasty and yummy!

I have not been to that market in Camdenton. I am going to have to check it out. The dump cake looks fabulous. Isn't that the coolest idea about the washing machine?

That looks just like my baby, Duke. He loves ice cream too. I better not show him this post or he'll want Culver's for dinner.

Hi Pat. My great uncle was going to give me an old washer that was his mother's. I turned it down ! I should have gotten it and planted flowers in it like your pic ! Great pic Pat !

I'm desperately searching for white and green pumpkins, squash and gourds just like those you found - lovely mosaic Pat. Hopefully they'll be arriving here in the south soon, it's still too hot and they would certainly turn into pie outside in today's heat!

Your Molly is precious - I'm glad she shared in a treat.

Have a great week.

Oh I love that old washer used as a planter! My Mom had an old wringer washer that she used at our summerhouse, kept it outside, and hung the wash on the line. I thought that was very exotic and fun -- but I was the kid and didn't have to work the wringer!

Lovely old houses, too --- and that dump cake looks amazing; can't believe what a simple recipe!
