Rural Missouri
To celebrate the return of Ol’ Sol, we decided to drive through the country, Sunday afternoon.
The trees are showing off quite a bit of color.
We passed several riverside fields that had been covered in water, during the recent rain storms. A few soy bean fields were ruined by the high water.
I found foxtails and milkweed pods to photograph alongside the roads.
Stop by Susan’s A Southern Daydreamer for more Sunday Drives and other outdoor posts, each Wednesday.
Remember the first photo, in the previous post, that shows hedge and hedge apples? I asked J about the gate post above. He told me this is a hedge post, made from the tree that produces hedge apples. By the way, cows like to eat hedge apples.

Such a beautiful drive ... thank you for taking us with you.
Accompanying you and J on this beautiful drive was a perfect way to begin my day. The scenes were gorgeous.
Pat- I could almost feel a peacefulness creep over me as I looked at these pictures. It reminds me a simpler time. I love the white house with the porch--I have always wanted to live in one! Thanks for sharing your Sunday drive and beautiful photos,
Beautiful pictures, Pat, and gorgeous country. I'd love to visit Missouri and see it all "in person."
Beautiful images Pat!
Thanks for the drive...and your car seat was really comfortable. I don't recall that we stopped anywhere for lunch, so I'll take a rain check. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous images.
Good morning Pat :)
I hear that hedge apples keep spiders out of the house. I think I might need some for our basement :)
Gorgeous pictures as always and you just know I love that old white farmhouse ;)
hugs,
rue
I'm headed to the cabin tomorrow. I should start early and allow time for some road side photography! Love the farm house!
p.s. have been meaning to tell you that your food photography is really wonderful Pat! And food is not easy to shoot! Yours look like they could come right out of a Martha Stewart mag!
I enjoyed your Sunday drive!
I love country drives and this was great! Thanks for taking us along. I loved the mailbox photo but as I kept going it seemed I really enjoyed everything you shared with us. Awesome Autumn in the country!

These gorgeous photos are killing me! Darn Florida and it's no change of season weather!
I feel as if I have been on the most wonderful road trip! This was a lot of fun. Beautiful scenery. I like seeing leaves since we get that much later here.
XO,
Sheila :-)
Pat,
You could easily blow those pictures up and frame them. So beautiful. The one with the rusty mailbox is really neat. Have a great week. The Twins
How pretty your photos are today! I am always drawn to fence posts and rural mail boxes in my photos too. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Have a glorious Wednesday.
I enjoyed your outing very much.
I loved the picture of that golden tree, but the one of the mailbox is artistic enough to blow up and frame! Thanks for sharing, Pat.
Good morning Pat, thank you for your birthday wish. I had a FULL day yesterday and didn't have time to visit hardly anyone. I would love to spend hours on my computer visiting but life just takes me away. I find myself having to limit my time on the computer. sigh. I would help if I wasn't so wordy and if I didn't have so much family visiting much of the year. OR, if I would just stay home more. I can't change that, I love my life.
Your drive through the country was lovely. You have a photographers eye. Great photos Pat. I'm glad you have your camera back. I have to laugh, my camera is so much more important to me since blogging. My family kids me a lot. I can take it. Ha!
Have a great day.

Pat, your photos are so beautiful. What surprised me the most, is that these look like they could have been taken in Pennsylvania. Thanks for sharing.

Big hugs,

Great pics and such an enjoyable country drive with you Pat - loved every mile!
Back from the mountains and Asheville area - thought of you and wished we could have been there when you & J visited! Had so much fun with Penny & K though -and we gals certainly enjoyed shopping together!
Penny's new home is awesome - they are doing fabulous things to it and it will be a showplace....but still have Penny's warm French touch. Such a lovely, talented lady.
At a free plant exchange last Spring, I took home some milkweed seeds. Seeds were forgotten until now. Jeepers I hope they will grow next year at the cabin. Oh well. Thanks for taking us on a cyber tour of rural Missouri. Great shots!

You have so much beautiful autumn color there, Pat. Our trees are just beginning to turn. Today is a warm day, in fact. I'm sure the cows love hedge apples ..what a treat for them!
What a beautiful drive through the country! I can't tell which photo is my favorite. I'm kind of a sucker for fences but that last one of the gate post is so artistic! Then there is the lovely babbling brook! OK - they're all lovely - thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed walking that country lane through your pictures, Pat. They are wonderful. I'm a mid-century modern gal but that farmhouse pulled at my heart strings. I hope you are having a wonderful week and enjoying Outdoor Wednesday.
Wonderful pictures - thank you
Ah...beautiful photos. Love the blue skies against all of those pretty backgrounds.

Hi Pat, enjoyed the beautiful ride, but glad I wasn't behind you. LOL!
Especially like the mailbox! Have a nice day!
Peace-that is what is pictured. Thanks for that Pat!
Beautiful pictures!! I love the one of the white house with the front porch. It reminded me so much of my Uncle's house. It was a farm house (he was a dairy farmer) and I have many fond memories of the old place. [Notice: I stayed away from your tempting recipes in your later posts---I CAN not eat that stuff...booooohooooo]Take care!
Thanks for the Sunday Drive. Beautiful photos. I love fall!
What a beautiful scenic drive, I love the golden aspens!
The mail box photo is really very artsy. Would make a lovely print for framing.
What a lovely post!!!!
The Ozarks are looking as beautiful as ever, one of these days I must visit and see for myself.
Autumn is so beautiful!! I love seeing all your photos.
