Christmas at the White House. An early Christmas gift.
T’was the Night Before Christmas
We had not planned to put a tree in the living room ,this year, until we stopped in at Lowe’s a couple of weeks ago. I was there to find scrap tree trimmings, in the garden area. I went inside just to have a look around. You know how that goes!
I found gorgeous Poinsettias and a Rosemary tree, for the kitchen. I also found lots of beautiful Norfolk Island Pines. The price was right, so we found a place in the car to bring one home.
I put it in an urn and set it on the round table in the living room. I believe the branches are too fragile to add lights, so I decorated with a few light weight ornaments. I added greenery with lights around the urn and decorated it with ornaments, ribbon, and a Santa, dressed in green and gold.
All through the house…
And on the Back Porch, too!

I was asked about the plates, in the breakfast room plate rack, shown in Country Christmas.
These are salad/dessert plates; part of my collection of Lenox Winter Greetings Everyday.
I began the collection with these plates. I’ve added dinner plates and accessories, through the years, at after Christmas sales and Lenox Outlets. I miss those outlet stores!
Another question was about the sleigh and Santa, seen in the hearth room, same post.
The photo below was taken in the dining room before Thanksgiving. It shows the two pieces better than the photo shot in the hearth room.
The Santa and sleigh are Jim Shore~Heartwood Creek.
I’m still working on the kitchen. It seems that room is always last, at Christmas time.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Oh, soooo beautiful!!!!
the little eggs nesting in the branches look so peaceful ...
Hi Pat, your home is absolutely gorgeous girl. I especially love the shot from the sofa area into the back porch. Love the stop at Lowes and all the goodies you picked up. I'm "hoping" to do some of that on Monday. Girl I haven't shopped since February.. might be pretty scary..lol. The White House Christmas book is beautiful, was going to treat myself and thought I'd best wait, can't wait to see what we have in store on Sunday evening. How's the weather your way? We're getting a nasty drizzle, but thankfully the temps are above freezing..so far. As always I enjoyed my tour of your home..hugs ~lynne~
Oh, Dear Pat! What a treat to see more of your gorgeous home! Everything is perfection! Love the Norfolk Pine. We have one planted in our backyard that branched off into several and it's taller than our two story home. Have you ever seen these growing in Hawaii? They grow sooooo tall.
Love seeing all your Santies and how you've displayed every thing. Love the shot looking into your porch. It's just so beautiful!
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Hi Pat.....Photos of your holiday decorating are wonderful! Happy HOlidays!~Patti
Love your Loews tree that just happened. Your home is beautiful!
Pat,
Your living room is just lovely. Mine is waiting for visitors tomorrow. I will probably vacuum up more glitter in the morning. I tell you, it is everywhere. I seem to carry it with me everywhere I go.
I have taken some pictures and want to get them posted. The new camera is just great. At this point I have only had time to use the Auto setting and also take a few pictures without the flash. I really want to join in on some of the wonderful parties in blogland.
We look forward to seeing you and J tomorrow.
Charla
All beautiful, as usual! That Norfolk Pine is just perfect for your living room. I love all your Santas!

The Norfolk Pine is gorgeous - everything is stunningly beautiful Pat. Thanks for showing us, I know all that decorating takes time but is so worth it.
Everything is beautiful! I love that porch. You must have a huge storage area for all you seasonal decor. I need to go back and take another look. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Hi Pat,
I just finished reading Christmas in the Living Room and your Country Christmas post. You have done a stunning job decorating your home for the holidays. I enjoyed all your holiday vignettes along with all the detail your camera lens was able to capture. I can't imagine how many hours it took to decorate that gorgeous tree in the hearth room. Your home is definitely magazine worthy. TFS! Sheila
Oh, I wish I lived close enough to drop by for a cuppa something warm and a good chat so I could just sit and enjoy time with you in your gorgeous home. You've done such a wonderful job, as always. And - again - you inspire me. Your home just lends itself to your special touch! I love your entry area. I don't have one, just step right inside. Maybe someday! ~Adrienne~
P.S. - My puppy is sitting here on the desk watching the letter appear on the monitor (he was curled up between my arms!) - and he's licking the screen. Did you get the puppy kisses he sent your way?
Just BEAUTIFUL Pat...Wow girl you and your hubby out did yourself this year...did you have your open house tour this year...Love the tree in the entry it looks like lace almost...Thanks for all the great eye candy once again my friend...May Blessings to you...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
It is all beautiful Pat! Your home looks like a magazine spread, just waiting for guests to come in and make themselves at home. I love it all, especially the norfolk pine with the green ornaments and the urn, what a terrific idea you had with that! I'm recovering from the flu, my house not nearly as well-decorated as I would have liked, but I am debating about trying to get a few snapshots of what I have done and posting it with the tour of homes. I enjoyed that so much last year.
Merry Christmas! Stay warm and well!
Love, Dana
Absolutely beautiful Pat! And I just adore the nest and eggs!!
Gorgeous! as always, your home looks so warm and welcoming! It is funny - I have many of the same ornaments and decorations as you.
Here's to a happy Merry wonderful holiday season! I hope those 3 little eggs - Peace, Joy & Hope- hatch for you in the new year!
Pat, all of your decorations are just amazing. I'm so glad you decided on a tree for the living room because it is just gorgeous! I love your cloche vignettes also.
Everythng is just lovely! I love your home and your style. Happy Holidays!
Beautiful Pat...each room is possibly better than the next!
Which is your fave?
It looks lovely, Pat!
XO,
Sheila
Hello Pat, I love your Norfolk pine tree. We planted one in Florida and it grew to be huge. I have always love the look of that pine and it looks beautiful in your living room. The way you decorated it, is perfect. The lights around the bottom give it a special glow. Everything is beautiful in your home.
My kitchen is kind of left out too. I do the hutch and the low buffet behind the table, but the kitchen is the last room I think of.
I laughed about you remembering when your Molly was a puppy. Cheri' is a handful, but we do adore her. We were away this weekend again and everywhere we go people just adore her. Walking her when we stop etc. she gathers a crowd. We are so lucky to have her.
Wishing you happy Christmas days ahead.
Hugs, Jeanne
your home is beautiful. Love all the touches of Christmas spread throughout. ~Jeanne too
You always leave me speechless.
Thank you for the tour through your wonderful Christmassy house. It all looks so warm and welcoming. I love those little Norfolk pines. I had one one year. I love you nativity under glass, so beautiful. I especially love your porch! Your photographs and mosaics are superb!
Question??? is that a new book this year? I would love that. I always love those Christmas specials.
Your home is stunning!! Simply beautiful! Love your decor and your style!! Merry Christmas!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I thought I was looking at a magazine! :) Thanks for letting me take a peek!
PS... I ADORE your rug in the entryway! Gorgeous!
What a beautiful now decorated home you have. I love all your pictures and mosaics
Such beautiful decorations! I love the green glass pine cones and cloches -- stunning!
That's a sweet little tree you brought home. Thanks for posting all the beautiful photos. Merry Christmas!
I love all of your decorations. But funny I like the little nest with the eggs the most. So often it is not the big things that warm the heart the most but the small and intimate details. Now if only I could remember that when I start decorating myself LOL.
Thanks for visiting! You where real early. I am afraid it will be new years before I have made my rounds at the Nesters Party.
Simply Stunning ~ inside and out! I love the way you have the back porch decorated with the sleigh and primitive tree with apples and the blocks spelling out Believe ♥
Everything is just magnificent, Pat. You are so very good at decorating and your taste is just stunning.
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely CHRISTMAS home with us.

We had many Norfolk Island Pines in south Florida. They grow quite large there, and I think they have such a pretty shape.

WOW! Your Christmas decor is amazing & your photography skills just shows everything off to the MAX! I love the Norfolk Pine. Pat,
What a fabulous, glorious, beautiful tour!!! I just love that Norfork Pine, I was thinking of getting one myself and now you have convinced me! Every detail and every pic is perfection! Cindy
Beautiful, Pat! I love that little tree in the urn, that's my favorite of all of these. Always so pretty at your house.
Fantastic Christmas decorations..my fav is the nativity under the cloche! It must take you days and days to get everything organized!!
Loved all the poinsettias..great mosaic!
Hi Pat,
Your Christmas decor is gorgeous! The Norfolk Pine in the urn completely stole my heart. I love the lights around the bottom...maybe even more than if they were on the tree. I have decided that Lowes has way better stuff at Christmas time than Home Depot. Can't beat their price on garland. :-) Merry Christmas, sweet friend! Love your home!
Susan
Hello Pat~
It's hard to believe this is the scaled back version, but of course I know it is! Simply beautiful and so welcoming. I couldn't resist the rosemary tree either. I walked by and the scent grabbed me! Your pine is wonderful there in the LR.
