~Lake Home Living Room Update~

I found the wicker rocker at our neighborhood garage sale and decided it was perfect for the condo living room.  I bought two new cushions for the rocker and another wicker chair, in the living room.

I’ve been asked whether the condo is our home or a home away from home.  Our home is in NE Missouri, near St Louis.  Our condo (a weekend home) is at Lake of the Ozarks, in central Missouri.

J and I want the condo to have the feel of a lake cottage, even though it is one unit in a large building.

I was tempted to use creamy slipcovers and a lighter palette.

However, we like brighter colors and they are more practical for this weekend place.

Because we want to relax here and not worry about wear and tear and cleaning, we’ve chosen inexpensive and easy care furnishings.

Black and white photos of our grandchildren are seen on the small white cabinet, next to the sofa.

The photos were taken a couple of years ago. I suppose they should be updated. I love these and will keep them here.

The ottoman is from the neighborhood sale, also.  I bought the basket at Marshall’s and filled it with books, binoculars and a bowl, with anchor motif, filled with rocks.

The grid of boat photos, above the sofa, is made of calendar pages, in frames from Michael’s.  I’ve thought about replacing the pictures a few times, but always decide to keep them, because they fit our lake home, so well.

A sign and old fly rod and reel hang above the door to the deck.

The condo is 1250 square feet.  There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A laundry alcove is in the hallway.

The kitchen is u-shaped, with plenty of space for preparing meals; small but efficient.  We added hardware to the cabinets, after this photo was taken. The walls in the kitchen and one wall in the entry are Sherwin Williams Mink.

Condo Entry

The framed prints are my black and white photos, taken in various Lake of the Ozarks locations.

Light fixture before…

Light fixture after…

I was thinking about changing the light fixture, for awhile, when I found this one at the garage sale.  It is the exact style I had in mind.

I’m looking for a small farmhouse style table to replace the round drop leaf table.

A Hint

By the end of July, I should be able to post something about the condo master bedroom makeover.

I picked up a gallon of Valspar paint, in Ariel View, from the Seaside Retreat collection, at Lowe’s.  While I was at Lowe’s, buying the paint, I bought a pair of louvered doors. More about those in upcoming posts.

I found a comforter and shams, that look as though they will work well with the ideas I have for this room.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a fantastic find! That would be something difficult to find at a garage sale..but then it probably depends on the neighborhood! Would I sell it? Never, never, never!!
It looks fantastic!
Love and hugs,

Pat, thanks for sharing your lake home with us. I would love to have a get away place like this. Love the photos on the wall over the red sofa. Can't wait to see the bedroom.

I love those boat pages framed! And that red couch just brings out the color in them. You sure have had your thinking cap on and getting a lot done. I'm zapped by the heat and my brain is fried I fear.

Your condo looks wonderful, Pat! Love it that you have used practical furniture for it...but it all looks fantastic! That ottoman was a great find at the! What a good idea to "contain" items in that basket, too!

I know you guys are just having a ball....hopefully cooling off now and then.

Your lake home is prettier than my all time home. I love it. You must have some crazy neighbors getting rid of that wicker chair!
I'd love to know where you got the frames with the shells on them if anywhere I might get some..

Pat, you look so cute in your straw hat, so stylin! Love the changes you are making, what a great place to get away. I know ya'll must really enjoy your lake condo and what a view! I think a lake house might even be better than a beach house in some ways. At least in hurricane areas.

Pat, your condo living room looks like a cottage on the lake. The wicker pieces really add to that feel, and how lucky you were to find that chair at the neighborhood sale. I remember seeing the framed calendar pages before, and I wouldn't change them either. They are perfect there. What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy that beautiful lake. laurie

Pat, I always enjoy seeing what you're doing at your place. And one thing I absolutely love is that tiny little frog crawling into the basket on your ottoman! OH, he is SO cute! You didn't mention him, but I couldn't help but notice him among the other neat elements.

Boy, do I understand that! That's one thing I love about the St. Augustine house is that it's a retreat where we can relax and not worry about the furnishings.

Can't wait to see what you have planned for the BR. I love the new chandelier over your table. I like what you had before, too, but I think the new look is very snazzy. You always do fun things!

Hello Pat- Thank you for taking us followers along with you on a "come on in" welcoming style to your wonderfully relaxing, summery, cheerful weekend home. I love white to set a cottage lake style mood and I love the primary bright colors you've chosen to accent it. I'm a grandma too and love the children's black & white photos. Love your detail in choosing the glass bowl with rope & anchor trim to hold your rock finds. Love your light fixture above the table also. How perfect to add to the tone you're setting. It's always enjoyably fun to visit your sight. It's all great! Stay cool in this heat & humidity. Kris

Oh My! What a lovely place you have there. LOVE the prints above the sofa! I may copy that idea.
A few yrs. ago on a flight to TX. from Mi. we flew over this huge body of water, seemed to go on for miles, I had to look up what that was & found out it was Lake of the Ozarks... have been wanting to go ever since...
& Why would anyone sell that delicious rocker...great find!!
