Monday

~Lunch Table Talk~

lunch

Monday morning, bright and early, J and I drove south for blood work.  This time, we both had routine tests.  Each of us had a fasting test. J had another test for his blood thinner levels.  We’ll know more about the fasting tests, after our check ups in about three weeks.  We are hoping to hear the results of the blood thinner test, in the next day or two.

I don’t know about you, but after these fasting tests, I am famished!  I decided a Mocha Frappe from McD’s was just the ticket, for breakfast.

To assuage my guilt over my lavish breakfast, I had a light lunch.

lunch2

I placed a thick slice of Sprite Melon, in a small fruit bowl, filled it with Blueberries, topped with light whipped topping and garnished with a Strawberry.

It looked so pretty it deserved a photo shoot.

lunch5

It was delicious, too.

An update…..already!

Before

After I published the post about the new cabinet, I made a minor change.

cabinetO

After

About 10 years ago, I shot a few black and white photos of barns around our county, with a 35mm film camera.  I remembered those photos, the other day, and thought one or two of them would be a great addition to the wall beside the cabinet, made from an old Missouri barn.

cabinetP

The barn, in the top photo, was on the farm next to J’s family farm. It is still in existence.  The barn, in the second and third photos, was just outside a small village, west of our town.  That barn is no longer standing.

cabinetback2

As you can see, in this photo of the back of the cabinet, red paint is still visible on the old barn boards.

Because this has a few tabletop elements, I am linking to Marty’s Tabletop Tuesday.

Your lunch looks yummy! Your barn photos are perfect there! Do you print them yourself or have them printer somewhere? I want to have some of my photos from France and Italy enlarged and printed and I am not sure how to do it. You can email me, if you have time...thanks Pat!

As for the B&W photos, I love them and they really compliment your new (old0 hutch and white Mikasa. It gives it a very crisp yet vintage look.

The barn pics look great and hold the same history as the hutch...which by the way is absolutely gorgeous. Love all the white dishes...heavenly.

Those B/W photos of the barns are PERFECT with your hutch!! I'm drawn to old barns, too. Sadly, they're fewer and fewer of them around. It's so great to be able to hold on to their memories through your photos and those great pieces of furniture!!

I just had my fasting blood work done two weeks ago...and the results given by my doc last Fri......GOOD NEWS this time. Last time, shortly after the Holidays, some of counts weren't so pretty....too much bad, but SO good food. . . and not enough exercise! I wish you well with yours! You get a gold star on that lunch!! :)

I am so glad you joined the party today! I can't believe I missed your post on the hutch! I was looking forward to seeing whatever it was you had made. I love this hutch! It is fantastic! That young man certainly has beautiful talent! I love how you have all your white displayed too! Gorgeous! That melon looks so delicious to me right now too! Very refreshing! Wonderful choice on the photos as well! Love it!

Pat I am in love with this piece too! That young man is so talented! The barn pictures are perfect there and I love that they have meaning to you and J. I am unfamiliar with sprite melon--it looks like a honeydew? I am having fresh cherries for dinner...since I had blackberry cobbler for lunch :) Oh well, I am getting in my daily fruit requirement!

I keep looking at the pictures, Pat, over and over again, with admiration. The hutch and table look so pretty with everything on them. The pictures are perfect on the wall...Christine

Your lunch does look good. Don't know that I have ever had sprite melon. Good luck on the blood tests. Like what you did with the B&W photos. I have been playing around with some pictures I took and changing them to B&W. Have one hung in the dining area, One of one of the grands already framed and have not got back to the others. When they were all here this weekend, i decided I need new pictures as they have changed so much the last few months.
Have a great week.

If shot film 10 years ago I would NEVER be able to find the shots, much less frame them and put them on the wall! Very nice! W.C.C.

Hello Pat - Love this post. Your fruit cup lunchenette looks devine! I love your pretty table setting.
Your furniture pieces are wonderful and create a warm, time savored antiquarian atmosphere that also brings back fond memories of the country life. I love the addition of the black & white barn photographs. I love the juxtaposition. I also like the little rooster & hen bit of color. In the photo, it looks like a little whimsy.
From one whose still in the working world and it's menotany, your blog is so femininely soothing. It's like coming home or going to visit a favorite aunt. I always come to your blog for that bit of respite. Thank you. Kris

Hi Pat, we have been camping with our children and now my oldest daughter is here to recover from shoulder surgery. Busy, is an understatement.

I just love your wonderful hutch. Your white dishes look so terrific as well. the change from the plates to the black and white photos looks perfect. The old barns are always an attraction to me. Lucky you have a pic of the ones that have gone the way of many old buildings. A great idea and a nice change.

I haven't had time to put up a new post today. I DO have a ton of material. HA!

I know you are enjoying your summer. Me too!
