~Summer mantel morphs into Autumn~

Breakfast room harvest table for Autumn.
I said I was going to wait until September 1st. However, we had a wonderful week of pre-Fall weather that sent me spinning into Autumn decorating mode.
Besides…the older I get, the slower I get. If I wait until Fall is officially here, I would finish the Fall vignettes sometime around December 24th!
HAPPY AUTUMN MEMORY
PHOTO FROM FALL ‘99 or 2000
My friend Terri of Lakewood Manor, purchased a new red convertible, over the weekend. When I saw a photo of her new Sebring, it brought back happy memories of eldest daughter’s Sebring convertible.
One particular memory; a trip to Eckert’s Orchard (Illinois), in September, about 10 years ago, during apple picking time.
Oldest granddaughter Xanti and her cousin Sasha built a scarecrow at the orchard. After a discussion, about how to get the fellow home, it was decided he should ride in style.
The photo was taken at Pere Marquette Lodge, Grafton Illinois. We can’t make a trip to the orchards or Grafton, without a drive up to Pere Marquette State Park and the lodge.
Xanti is the taller of the two girls.
Standing behind the girls is yours truly, 10 years and several pounds ago.

The black iron dish rack, seen in A Kitchen Vignette, was found at Home Goods.
The paint color in the kitchen is Valspar Laura Ashley Gold 3
The paint color used in the master bedrooms at home and the lake is Sherwin Williams Antique White.
The pumpkins and other Fall items, used in the vignettes are faux, with the exception of the lotus pods. The pods are from J’s Aunt Ruth’s lake. The lake is no longer in existence.
THANK YOU
I appreciate your wonderful response to Saturday Photo Fun.
I hope to have Part II ready for publishing next weekend.
I’ll try to answer more questions in that post.
I am enjoying the project.

Your fall metamorphosis looks great! Are the pumpkins in the wooden dough bowl real?
Hugs,
Penny
I love the simple understated elegance of your mantle! But I still refuse to give into fall - I have a whole week here before the children start school!
Wow, I love your Fall vignettes.
I haven't gotten around to bringing up all my fall season decor yet. Waiting a couple more weeks. We went to the flea market in Wentzville today. It was great but getting very warm out there.
Absolute perfection. Your fall displays are just beautiful. I don't blame you for not waiting. Life is short...Have a wonderful day, Patty
You always inspire me. I am having a shower here in early October. I am going to "lift" your idea of using the old wooden dough bowl for a centerpiece. I have one passed down in my husband's family. Thanks for the ideas.
Love all your Fall photos Pat. The wooden dough bowl filled to the brim is absolutely gorgeous! We are in the beginning of ANOTHER heat wave after a short spell of lovely cool weather. Because of the heat we've already picked the pumpkins growing in our garden and have them on the back porch :-)Inside decorating will begin 1st of Sept.
Very elegant!!!
Pat, you and I are thinking alike here today. I didn't do the mantle yet, but I did add fall bounty to my breakfast table. Love your faux fireplace and how you added the perfect fall touches and that dough bowl on your table is spectacular.
I have been waiting to see what fall would look like at your house. I enjoy looking at your groupings and especially your pictures. I've got the porch washed down at my house and planning to start putting fall out next week! I can't wait!
Your fall decor is beautiful. It's still so darn HOT and wet here...we've had soooo much rain. I'm dreaming of fall though.
Hugs,
Kat
The centerpiece on the harvest table is so perfect!!!! I'm ready for fall, too. Sally
Love all your fall vignettes. Gorgeous, as usual and expert photography! I'm getting out some of my stuff today as soon as I get off this computer!
Autumn is my favorite season and you've displayed it beautifully.
Your fall looks great -- after the hot and dry summer I think we're all looking forward to fall and last week's cooler weather certainly made us think that perhaps fall is on it's way!
I always love fall and the pumpkins and bittersweet and branches of leaves!
I hope Fall just comes on in and makes itself at home : O ) I talked about doing the Fall thing this weekend but grandchildren came first. I would really like to get some things out before we leave on Wednesday for a week at The Lake. So much to do and so little time ---- or is it that we are just a "little" older???
Charla
Hi Pat! Your home is always stunning! I go to Cottage of the Month very now and then and look at your Christmas decor! You do such a wonderful job with all of the seasons!

Unbridled beauty here, Pat. I just adore the colors you painted those chairs. They help bring me into fall. Thanks so much for helping every one!
Brenda
I love your autumnal pieces. The fireplace looks wonderful. Change of pictures, change of screen, a wispy, twirly vine and some pumpkins. gorgeous. As is the table. i think it's time to pull out our bread dough trough! I love what you put together.
Lovely post! Inspirational. I am slowly transitioning to autumn, but today we were in the 90's, so I guess I'll bide my time in the last vestiges of summer for a little while yet, anyway!
pretty arrangements...Love your fall colored dining chairs!!
Oh I am so ready for fall and all of your wonderful displays are just fabulous. I love the fireplace mantel. What a pretty arrangement and the dough bowl is fantastic. Love it. Hugs, Marty
Oh...this is delicious! I LOVE fall!!!! Pat this is just so pretty. Your photography makes it eye candy delicious.

Pat,
I love your mantle makeover. . .
that copper pot full of mums made me anxious to get to Lowe's to purchase ours for the front porch!
Always a source of inspiration, your blog is, truly, like a breath of "Fresh (Fall) Air".
Fondly,
Pat
It all looks so beautiful! I love your fireplace and the wrought iron pieces you have.

I love it all! So homey and comforting! Always wonderful to stop in for a visit! Stop in and say hello! Hugs, Meme
Oh you are killing me here with more beautiful fall decor. Of course I love your mantle and table centerpiece. Again, the mantle shows your wonderful simplistic style that I just adore! Sorry I missed the Saturday post. I would love for you to do the photography series. That would be a blessing. We just had a couple on the boat with us last night who are photographers and they were trying to tell me about white balance. Nice to see an example of this in your photos. I would look forward to more posts from you on this!
Beautiful Pat! You are so talented! I enjoy your work so much and am glad you share it with us.
Beautiful!! I so can't wait to set Fall - but it's still in the 100's in South Florida and rained this weekend to do any of it outside...
BEAUTIFUL pictures! Thanks for sharing... Happy to have found you over at BNOTP Metamorphosis Monday...
:D Lynda
Oh, your things look so pretty. I started playing with fall things today. I was at Pere Marquette yesterday:)
I think I love your table more than any other I have seen! That table centerpiece is gorgeous Pat! I love that dough bowl!
And your mantel is so well done and so pretty.
Oh do I love that fire screen too!
Gorgeous pics, gorgeous autumn decor!
Cindy
I've never been as ready to put summer away as I am this year. You gave me just the little nudge I needed. The gardens and porches are starting to look a bit tired, so, pumpkins to the rescue! Fall colors are not my colors, so I try to infuse a little cranberry and lime in the mix. I usually paint my real pumpkins white! Cheaper than buying the white ones. You never fail to inspire me.
Your Fall decor is so pretty! Really like the dough bowl center piece. I thought about getting some Fall things out today - But that was all I did was think about it.
Have a great week.
Hi Dear Pat! Oh, my goodness - Fall has fallen at your house! Everything looks gorgeous as usual! Love your big bowl (dough bowl?) and all you've placed in it. I love seeing your beautiful home and you sure do know how to make pretty!!
Thank you for answering my question about the dish holder. I've got to get me one. I love them. Love you too! ;)
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Pat, I just love your autumn mantle and your table displays! You're so creative. I'm inspired to start my autumn decorating. I'm new to blogging and just love your site!
Pat, Your new little Autumn vignette is really lovely and SO fallish! You have a real knack for that. Thanks for the simple but sweet idea for styling a mantel, I shall do mine kind of like that when I get back home and begin to re-do for Fall. I am enjoying a vacation with my family and friends in the Western USA and Canada at this time.
Hugs, Cindy S
love your dining room table display, love the different colours of your chairs, they match the autumn tones beautifully
I guess I wasn't paying attention but I did not notice the chairs were all different colors before? That is pretty neat. I love the pumpkin treatment on the Faux fireplace. That fireplace project is still one of the most impressive things you have ever done! W.C.C.
Your mantel looks lovely but the wooden bowl filled with autumn fruits and berries is just fabulous. I'm going to try and do something similar for my own dining table. I just love it.
Ah, I'm feelin' it! So ready to dispense with summer heat and dive into a pile of leaves. You have done an incredible job, Pat!
Hugs, KJ

Oh my, your mantel is beautiful, but it's your dining room that takes my breathe away, I love your style and your white dishes, I have a bit of a white dish addiction myself.
Just beautiful!

So beautiful, Pat ... I love the elegant simplicity of your mantel vignette. You are making it so hard for me to wait to get my "Fall stuff" out!
Love, love, love the mantle. It is so simple and so beautiful. Every photo is perfect. So invitingly Fallish!!
The dough bowl on your table is gorgeous filled with autumn finery, Pat. And the simplicity of the mantel just makes such a statement. I tend to keep adding, when I know I should subtract at least ONE thing! LOL I'm so glad to see that I am not the only one who has begun to add fall to my decor. I always jump the gun on everything!!
hugs, Sue
Loving those fall vignettes Pat. Autumnal accents seem to be slowly creeping in here at Hosta Cottage, but now we are destined for 90+ degrees for the week. Maybe next week will be more fitting for getting out more "stuff" to fluff with.
I am looking so forwardcto fall! I love how you are transforming your come from summer to cozy!
Have a pretty day!
Kristin
Thanks Pat........it is good to be back! I haven't missed any of your beautiful posts and love the master bedroom makeover at the Lake!!! hugs, linda
Pat, You've inspired me to get the fall groove on. I love the simplicity of your decorating. It makes such a Big statement and SO cozy.
Pat I love your changes the mantle looks amazing!! I am almost there. I have been writing all these post about Fall but have not changed the house yet I am slowly creeping into it. I agree I am slower too so I have to get on it when the creative juices start flowing. I did put out a cutting board today. So that is a start. check out my post today I think you will like it. Kathysue
I really, really, really, really like the colors of the chairs. Looks like fall at your home.
Joyce
It all looks so pretty! Your colors are so vibrant and beautiful. It's all picture perfect.
Was a bit taken aback when I saw that you were decorating for Fall already! (Here in Central California it is still very much summer.) But I do love your autumn decor...will have to "borrow" a few of your ideas for my 5th wheel home, especially the basket on the the table scaled down to size of course.
I really enjoy your blog.
The first blog that has the pumpkins out for real!
Your Fall decorations look lovely, let's hope you can enjoy them and a little Indian Summer at the same time.
Fall elegance, thanks, you have inspired me yet again with the wonderful photos of what you do!
Linda
Oh how wonderful it looks. I love the bowl of pumpkins. I also like the idea that you changed out the art work with the season. I often think of doing that but haven't done so yet.
Oh, my goodness. I love your painted chairs.
Pat I hope you'll consider posting some of these pictures in Vignette Fridays! They'd be great inspiration for my readers! :) I just love the way this turned out! It's really beautiful, and something I think I can do too - which makes it even more inspiring! Thanks for sharing, and as always inspiring!
Artie
P.S., stop by and let me know what you think of my little video I did of my house. I hope you like it - would love to know what you think!
