This fine fellow kept his eyes on me, the entire time I was taking his photo. I have several shots. His eyes moved with me in every single one! Yes, it is a tad creepy. I wonder if he arrived on this planet aboard one of the vehicles seen at the end of this post! That would be quite a story to tell, on chilly Fall nights, around the fire. Autumn is the time of year when tall tales can be heard in every little corner of the countryside.

We'll save the ghostly stories until it grows a little cooler and the frost is on the pumpkin. For now, come along on a drive through beautiful rural Missouri, on this early Autumn day.
Sit back, relax, enjoy!

This is a private covered bridge, crossing a small creek. There is a way to ford the creek, for large trucks.

A northern Lincoln County lane.

Black Walnut Tree branch. I love Black Walnuts in Fudge and Pumpkin Bread.

Walnuts, beneath the tree.

Thanksfor letting us see how bwautiful a ride is there!Have a blessed day.
What wonderful pictures! I love black walnuts too Pat. My Mom used to make a wonderful walnut honey loaf bread that she used black walnuts in. It was so yummy...she even won a "sweepstakes" ribbon at the county fair when I was a youngster...obviously years ago. I will have to see if I don't have that recipe tucked away somewhere.
Gorgeous pictures, I really enjoyed the tour.
I live in Fl, so I don’t see the changing of the seasons.
We are the same most of the year.
Blessings, Virginia

I love your blog..and today was just perfect for a drive in the country...I think I liked the covered bridge the best..Reminds me of The Bridges of Madison County...hugs ~lynne~ aka decorator101 over at RMs
Must be that time of the year because I noticed tons of toadstools in the fields lately. I have a huge black walnut tree. This year there aren't that many nuts on it but next year it will be loaded. The squirrels just love us. Wonder why? I took lots of photos today of the fields and mown hay that I will post about next week. :)
These are some BEAUTIFUL photos! I love the fall so much...it's just such a short season (especially lately...seems like we go from summer to winter in NJ with a brief fall "interlude.")
I love going for drives in the fall. Thank you for taking us along. I can't wait to hear some of your spooky stories

My aunt makes these great sugar free oatmeal cookie for me that includes black walnuts. Any other time I could care less about them, but they are scrumptious in her cookies.

Pat - you, m'dear, are such a gift! I imagine your heart is made of a super-stretchy material because it seems to have no limits. :) You are always so kind to stop and take photos that you think will be enjoyed not just by yourself, but by those who come to visit! I don't know if I'll ever make it to your part of the country in this lifetime, so I take total delight in viewing your area through your lens. Thank you!
oh my word...I love the mushroom/toadstool photos...they look like they've just decided to pick up and go some place warmer for the winter so they're heading off!

Wow, what wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of your world there. It's like going on a walk with a friend.
I don't know what it is about toadstools but I have adored them since I was a child! I loved the photos of them.
Hi Pat,
What a great drive. You live in such a great place.
Have a beautiful Autumn weekend.
Rosemary
What lovely pictures as always. Those mushrooms or.....flying saucers are so wonderfully whimsical. Isn't nature great!
Lovely country scenes Pat - enjoy your time at the lake in the Autumn air and colors.
Appreciate you stopping by to wish me a good trip. Leaving Wed. Fly to London then on to Toulouse -about 1-1/2 hr. drive from my family's village. Hope to post now and then with some pics of Autumn in the Minervois area, and on our 5 day trip to Provence.
Will have just a day in London on the return journey.
You and J take care and have fun.
Hugs - Mary.
Pat, your country pics are wonderful. I had to check them all out twice. The mushrooms do look like flying saucers. Delightful.
I do love Zinnias and I think it is because my mother always planted them from seed all across the front of her house. Then she cut them for fresh flowers all summer long. She loved fresh flowers in her house. So did her mother. Back then on the farm a flower garden was always huge. Lots of beautiful flowers in the farm house. Thus my love of Zinnias.
Hugs, Jeanne
Thanks for taking me on a drive thru the beautiful Missouri countryside. I loved your pictures and could feel like I was in the car with you.
We have some beautiful trees with their fall coats on. It has been awfully so don't think the leaves will stay on the trees long.
Love to you both!
Thanks for letting me know about Paul Newman. I always liked him so much...and those fabulous blue eyes were magnificent. Bless his heart...in his 80's and so sick with cancer..he is at rest now.
Thanks again, Pat...

what nice pictures! Did you get any flooding out in your area a couple of weeks ago?
Thanks for the tour! Even the hints of the fall leaves makes me miss "home." We don't have colorful fall leaves here in Texas! Some of those homes are just gorgeous. And Wow! Those are some giant toadstools!
Hi Pat
Remember me? Life has been sooooo C-R-A-Z-Y lately...but a good kind of crazy, so I can't complain even though it has kept me from visiting. But...I'm home now...for a week or so anyway.
I won't comment on each one but I've had so much fun reading all your posts I've missed. And your photos! Oh My!
Hugs!
Kat
