~A Tiny Break and Strawberry Rhubarb Pie~

Rhubarb

Ruthie’s Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

(Ruthie says the pie recipe can be found in the original Betty Crocker Cookbook)

We arrived at the lake Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday, the phone rang. It was Aunt Ruth and her friend Ruthie.  They were in Jefferson City, on their way to the lake!

We enjoyed fishing and sitting on the terrace, next to the docks, in the afternoon.  J grilled and we had a late supper of pork steaks, potato salad, slaw, beans, deviled eggs, sliced tomatoes….and this lovely Rhubarb Pie, baked by Ruthie.

There was more fishing after supper.  We also sat on the deck and admired the beautiful full moon.

This morning, it’s pouring rain.  Believe it or not, Ruthie is back on the dock. I don’t know if the fish are biting, but she is certainly having a great time!

I’m taking a sort of abbreviated bloggy break. Just living the good life!  I’ll return, Monday!

We are enjoying our week and weekend. I hope you enjoy yours, too!

See you next week!

I do love rhubarb and strawberries. My father had a patch of rhubarb by the fence in the back yard. My mother froze it so that we could eat it year-round. Have a wonderful time.\at The Lake. I was at Evergreen on Wednesday. I do love that place.

Are you posting that recipe? Have fun! My husband just had a umbilical hernia repaired and is sleeping in the recliner right now. We won't be going on any trips for about 6 weeks. But we've got one planned for Ouray, Colorado in July.

Gosh that pie looks good. Pat have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the fishing. My father ran a fish camp in Florida for a while when I was a little girl. We lived on the lake and many friends and relatives came to visit. We ate and fished, pretty much like you've described. It was the good life. I miss it! ♥

ouch... pinched saliva gland when I opened your site.

(I got stung under the tongue when I was a kid, which caused me to get scar tissue. Every so often when I get a sudden mouth watering experience it induces a bit of pain.)

Hi Pat!! I hope you're enjoying your break---it sounds like you've had lots of fun at the lake!

Aunt Ruthie's pie looks so yummy! My mom was a rhubarb fan--she would've LOVED that recipe.

Oh, and I really like your banner---and your wonderful spirea photos!! AND that rusty lawn chair was wonderful, too!! You're photography skills are going over the top--just like every thing you do!

I enjoyed seeing your house on the tour--of course, I watched you decorate many of those rooms through your wonderful posts.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!! Dana
