~Guest Room Makeover Reveal~

guestroom15

mondaymet secondtimearoundtuesday

With the completion of the guest bedroom makeover, I’m combining Metamorphosis Monday and 2nd Time Around Tuesday, in one post.  Stop by Susan’s Monday’s and Diane’s each Tuesday, for makeovers and renewed treasures.

Looking into the vanity area, of the guest bath, as it looked before.  The paint color is Laura Ashley Olive #5 (Lowe’s)

The paint color is Laura Ashley Gold#3. The panels and roman shades are beige lined in cream.  Oldest daughter “inherited” these for her master bedroom.

The three gold pillows are now used in the living room. The lamp, once belonging to J’s late mother, is in the other guest room. The settee and tables are used in other rooms.

The paint color remains the same.

guestroom12When I found the navy, white and gold toile comforter, at Target, it set the wheels in motion for a little guest room makeover.  I shopped the house for accessories and the wing chair.  I purchased the bird prints, above the bed, at All About Home, here in our town.  The sconces are from JC Penney.  The black lamps were formerly in the master bedroom. The lyre tables were found years ago at a local auction.

The furniture is from our room, at the farm; it’s Lexington.

Checkers, chess pieces and a deck of cards are stored inside the game table, beside the chair.  A stack of travel and decorating books are on the small dresser.

I replaced the heavier window treatments with bamboo shades and sheers. Giving the room a lighter feel.

I’m very pleased with how the room makeover turned out.  Somehow, the room seems more comfortable.

The wing chair is my contribution for 2nd Time Around Tuesday.  Given to us, by our niece, the chair was upholstered in a chartreuse and olive stripe. Not pretty, at all. I believe it is from the 1950’s or 1960’s.  I had the chair upholstered in a soft gold.  The skirt was added, at that time.

The throw, on the chair, is a Ralph Lauren cable knit, from Marshall’s at Osage Beach, MO.

guestredo6 I replaced the brass knobs on the sliding closet doors, with these blue and white knobs, found at Hobby Lobby.

guestroom17This photo shows the vanity area of the guest bathroom, after it was repainted. The paint color is Laura Ashley Gold #2, mixed in Kilz.  This is a pass through bathroom, with the other vanity area off the hallway. A tub and toilet room separates the two vanity areas. These rooms are being painted LA Gold #2, also.

Many thanks to Joni, at Cote de Texas, for featuring my photos, on her post, Photography 101, Sunday June 14th. I appreciate this so much, Joni!!

A REMINDER:

Friday June 19th is Marty’s Cloche Party.

~New Dining Room Table~

Our new dining room table and chairs arrived, Saturday morning. This completes the dining room makeover.

The photo, at left, shows the dining room before. Laura Ashley Gold 3 paint, from Lowe's.

We're talking about selling the glass topped table and chairs, later this month, at our daughter and son in law's subdivision sale. We're definitely putting the old chandelier in the sale.

There are five leaves that fit around the outer edge of the table, extending it to 74 inches. The table remains round. When the leaves are not in place, the table is the same size as our former table.
I plan to use the Queen Anne style chairs, I refinished, with black paint (one shown here), between the new chairs, when we have more than four guests.
Slipcovers were included, with the chairs. The table and chairs are finished in a very dark brown, that appears black, depending on light.
I recently won this beautiful painting, in a giveaway at Studio Stuff. I plan to use it at the condo. Thank you, Linda!

As I wrote in the post, just before this one, I was the recipient of two awards, recently. The first one is Autumn Friends, from Jan of Jan and Tom. I think by now, just about everyone is in a Fall Decorating mood. I'm passing this award to everyone who stops by the Back Porch. Please accept it with my appreciation for your visits and pass it along!

I also received the Hooked on Your Blog Award, designed by Julia at Hooked on Houses. Thank you Linda at Lime in the Coconut.
It's so very difficult to pass an award along to just a few. I am hooked on all the blogs on my list and then some! I've chosen 5 to receive the award, at this time and will pass it along to others, in future posts.
In no particular order:
Mary, at Across the Pond
Cathie, at Catherine Holman Folk Art
Kat, at Kat's Whimsy
Karen, at Yellow Farmhouse
Rechelle, at The Country Doctor's Wife
Please accept this award with my appreciation and pass it along to 5 or more.
