Crocks have been a favorite for many years.

Another favorite can be seen on the wall in the background.

Sara Tetley’s Bench at Orange Cottage~

I recently purchased 4 other prints, by Sara Tetley, for the lake condo master bedroom makeover.

Sara’s Two Boats hangs on the window of the shutter/window wall arrangement in the dining area of the condo living room.

I am a huge fan of her beautiful work.

Roosters, chickens and cloches are also favorites.

The large cloche and stand are from All About Home, a local shop.

The rooster and hen, from Home Goods.

A blue green crock, handmade by a North Carolina artisan, sits under a chicken wire cloche.  The crock was a gift from Jeanne, of Backyard Neighbor, when she and her husband visited Missouri in 2009.

Crocks are a special favorite of mine.

J’s blood test results were reported, yesterday. Coumadin is increased; another test in two weeks. It will work itself out, eventually.

Thanks so much for your support!

Enjoy your weekend!

~Cloche Encounters II~

One of my favorite decorating accessories is a cloche, I love changing the vignettes with the holidays and seasons.
Bird nests, santas, chocolate bunnies and cookies are examples of what I've displayed beneath a cloche.
Many times, I've displayed a cloche empty. The simplicity of the form being all the ornamentation needed. ~From Back Porch Musings Archives-03/09/2007~

Published March 9, 2007, Cloche Encounters was one of my earliest posts. I was using a Kodak P850 camera, in those days. I began Back Porch Musings three days prior. Needless to say, I was still very tentative about blogging. I received 3 comments, on the post. I’m so appreciative to all who have visited the Back Porch, over the past 2 years.

Below is that same cloche, shown in the top photo. The photo was taken June 13, 2009. The camera is Canon Rebel xti, using a Tamron 18-200 lens. Photography and blogging are continuing learning adventures.

Originally, cloches were used in gardens, to protect plants from cold or frost. In recent years, I’m happy to say, they’ve become popular for use as decoration, indoors.

The following photos were taken with the Canon Rebel xti, from Christmas 2008 thru June 18, 2009.

clocheUI’ve collected cloches for about 7 years. I look for unusual shapes, like the little dome cloche, above. I also look for etched glass cloches.

A Note: I was asked about the plates, I used in the Wednesday, June 17, post. I bought them at Nell Hill’s in Atchison, Kansas. There are Nell Hill’s stores in Atchison, KS and Kansas City, MO. Mary Carol Garrity announced, recently, Nell Hill’s is now online. For shopping, click HERE.
