Our extra special company (2 daughters and 2 grandchildren) returned to St Louis around noon Sunday. During the afternoon, we took a drive around the lake. I took these photos of early Spring in the Ozarks.

The snow, predicted for areas of Missouri, didn’t materialize, here at the lake. After a few days of clouds and rain, the sun is a welcome sight!

J and I will be shopping for flooring, this week. We are also talking about a little antiquing day trip; two adventures that will surely lead to future decorating/design posts.

April 1st is the Grand Re-opening of Evergreen Manufacturing, in Osage Beach. I hope to stop by and see what Jason found at Market.

Visit Rhoda’s Southern Hospitality for information about Windows Live Writer; another option for composing blog posts. I’ve used WLW the past few posts and like the option.

Thanks to all who have visited the Back Porch over the past two years. The blog is my hobby and I enjoy it, very much. I am very appreciative to all my readers! I hope you all continue to visit and enjoy what is happening here.

***The blooming tree is a Redbud. The trees, shown in these photos, grow in wooded areas throughout Missouri as well as in yards and gardens. Moss is growing on the rocks.

~THE WINNER~There were 160 comments on the 300th post. I eliminated duplicate comments and those who did not want to be included in the drawing. The total for the drawing was 157. I used a random number generator to choose a number between 1 and 157. The number generated was 33. The recipient of the 300th post giveaway is Penny of Lavender Hill Studio and The Comforts of Home. Congratulations Penny! Please e-mail me with your address. I'll send the package next week, after our return home.

I added a link to this post, at Susan's, for Outdoor Wednesday. To see more outdoor posts, visit A Southern Day Dreamer.

Gorgeous color! What are the trees and the plants on the rocks? I've been mesmerized with the clouds of pink Indian Hawthorne blossoms everywhere here. It's used a lot here and it's all a'bloom!

Love the steeple, beautiful!! No we just got a dusting of snow overnight. It rained terribly here all day long. I thought it was freezing as it was hitting the windows, but it was a tad too warm. Mom had to work today and she said several people said it was a little slick. Thank goodness. I covered up my mini lilacs, roses, and sedum. I happily uncovered them this afternoon. Hope that's the last of it.
I miss the real Evergreen. Ours in Kirksville sold out to some locals. I just don't think stuff is quite the same. Although there is still some neat stuff.

Lisa said...

Yes, the son married a girl a little younger than me who I believe we played basketball against. She's very tall and I think she tried to be a model. I was sad when his dad sold out. We still go there, but the prices have changed and the stuff isn't put together as neat as it used to be. Mom and I go to the one at the lake any opportunity we are there.

Lisa said...

PS, had another thought. I think you should take that same picture of the steeple with different seasons. That would make a great display I bet.

Hi Pat,
Your photos are breathtaking and I want some of that weather so bad. I think I need to go to the Ozarks! I think I'm heading to map quest to see how far it actually is from us. Cindy

You are making me so wanting a trip to Missouri. I haven't been there for a couple of years, and need my mid-west fix. Love the countryside, the shopping, and the people!! Have a great week, Pat. Sally

Beautiful Pat. Redbuds are a sure sign of spring. What a great day it must have been; blue skys, loved ones add making plans for Evergreen (wink)

I'm so glad you've had such success with WLW. I still use the beta verson I downloaded March 08. It sure does make posting so much easier. Might be time to upgrade as it looks like they've worked out some of the bugs.

Absolutely beautiful Pat!! I noticed your posts looked different but I wasn't sure what was different. I'll have to check that out :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the pictures of the redbud. It made me "homesick" for springtime in Missouri. We got an inch or so of snow overnight, but it melted. Now it is just cold and windy..........but nothing like the troubles other places are having.

Beautiful Pat! We don't have blooms quite yet,in fact, we had snow today!

Ack..Lost my long post! Thanks for tempting me with that corn recipe. Looks delicious! I adore corn. We have Redbuds in bloom and captured some shots this weekend. We also have some amazing moss that has been spreading through our wooded area behind the house, which I have been taking photos of along the way. Planning to use them to create some textures for Photoshop. I need to get those posted to Flickr so I can share!

Pat, I was half asleep when I wrote that post last night... it's buy one on clearance and get the next one on clearance for half price. So you only have to buy the one to get the next one for half price which is really the better deal. Call and make sure they are still doing it. Sometimes their sales can be short-lived, but Tuesdays did have some cute things here. They had an adorable Easter platter, too in a cute shape. I got some dessert plates about which I'm debating. The cutest thing I ever got from there was years ago when I got a child's crib quilt that has primitive animals on it. I used it as a lap throw. Everyone wanted it. :-)

XO,

Sheila

Spring in the Ozarks---how LUCKY are you to be able to enjoy its beauty! The red buds look wonderful--and so does that lush, green moss!

Thanks for such a beautiful share. Today in our part of Missouri, we are experiencing overcast skies and powerful gusts of wind! I guess March is going out like a grumpy lamb!

Good luck with your 'floor' shopping and have fun at Evergreen!
