What I did on my break…
I rarely leave home without my black framed glasses and day planner.
Two special paperweights.
My space to create was in a corner of J’s lodge, on the lower level, until last Spring when I purchased a new computer. I thought about making my new space in the bonus room/studio on the upper level.
In the end, I decided I wanted my desk in the bay window of the master bedroom.
For a look at the 2009 master bedroom makeover, click HERE.
Easter weekend, I corralled a kid or two to bring a small harvest table up from the lodge. Eldest daughter set up my new computer. That was as far as I got in organizing the bay window into a space to create, until this week.
Whether it is approaching Fall or something else, I’ve had an urge to do a bit of nesting the last week or two.
I moved the desk over a couple of feet, from where it was centered on the bay, added a lamp, leftover from the condo master bedroom redo, brought a small trunk in and an oak split basket for magazines. The basket was made by a Missouri artisan, several years ago. The trunk and basket are good pieces for storage and they help hide cords and cables.
After adding a few accessories and necessities, the space is complete
I bought the small footstool at an old Welcome Home store, to use in our truck, for my feet, when I had a foot injury, about 5 years ago.
When my foot healed I re-covered the stool in burlap for use at my desk.

Asbolutely lovely and serene, Pat. It suits you well. Love the pothos in the stand next to the desk, too.
Lovely! It was worth the wait!
And it probably sounds silly but what really caught my eye, was that sweet little low foot stool. Oh I love the look of that!
Sometimes, that's exactly the height I want, in front of my med recliner! The only place I am always comfortable, because I can put it to any, any, any position as it were. From just sitting, to almost reclining.
And we have a lot of kind-of-foot-stools around, which husband has made over the years. But none this low height. I think I have found another project for him to make!!! :-)
Like after he finishes 10 year old Grandson's desk. And finishes designing and making, where we will hang coats/hats/etc. on, by front door, and ..... ,-) But, a woodworker wants to always have a waiting project! So I'm just helping! :-)
Gentle hugs...
What a wonderful place to create! It is so you. I love the idea of putting things under the desk to hide cords and also use as storage. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs.....
p.s. the paperweights are so special!
Girl you have done it again.
It is just beautiful. I would love to have the stool under the desk.
Thanks for sharing your space.
Have a great day
Pat, I know I say it every time you post, but I so love your home. I wasn't blogging back when you posted your master so this was the first time i saw it and read your history- it has just endeared me all the more. You give me hope
xoxo Pattie
Dear Pat,
No matter hard I would try to do it, I could never conceal all the cords, cables and wires I seem to have. I am so impressed with your arrangement. I also have an open backed table I use for a desk. I am going to have to do a little reorganizing. Thanks for inspiring me, I think.
Oh Pat...what a beautiful space!
Enjoy!
Cathy
Lovely, as always-and I am a big believer in "hide the stinking cords" too-lol Looks like the perfect place to sit and work (or dream). Great job- Diana
Pat-What a perfect place! I have always loved the look of a table used as a desk, but those pesky cords were a drawback. Yours don't show and don't even look camoflouged. The trunk looks like a natural there. I am envious of your window!
I absolutely love it, it looks like a very comfy space not to mention the colors...its all so lovely. Perfect, Perfect, Perfect for working, reading or just staring out the window. Great Job!
Your space to create is an inspiration - but then all of your home decorating posts inspire me! I'm working on redoing mine and have been gathering ideas. I've had the nesting urge for several weeks - a sure sign Fall is coming!
~Adrienne~
That is a lovely space for your 'creating' desk, Pat. I'm using our previous dining table as my sewing table in my hobby room. I love that farmhouse tables can have so many uses.
I just love that pillow in the chair!
Isn't it nice to have your own space? I find that I work all over the house even though I have an office and a separate workroom. I leave piles everywhere! I need to learn to work in the spaces I have set aside.
The area you've created is very inviting Pat.
Looks like you forgot nothing!!!!
Everything there for your new space!
Love your little stool Pat,
Have a great week,
xoxo Kathy @
Sweet Up-North Mornings...
Pat, what a lovely place to create. I love all the accessories you added. You have such a pretty room.
What a pretty setting to have your computer. I read your post, then looked around to see if i could create a space similar to that here - Ain't gonna happen !! :-D
Pat,
Oh My~ I just wish I could grab and Ice tea and sit down right there, exactly how you have it... Lovely, quiet spot... I just adore the space!!
What a gorgeous spot Pat!
It's so serene and lovely, and the armoire is fantastic!
HAGD,
Cindy
What a dreamy place to have your desk/computer located!! I love the idea of hiding the cords in your trunk! Clever!! AND that little foot stool idea is a cute and very functional touch!!
Hope you're getting a weather break, too! The temps are wonderful in KC today. . . but we didn't get much rain. . . yet.
Hope you're having a great week! L, Dana
Love your space....it looks calm and inviting and I'll bet you will see all kinds of wonders as you look out the window in deep and wise reflection.
This is really pretty, Pat. What a nice view you have when blooging with a big window. I like every little detail that you added like the cherub playing the violin. I love how you hid the cords with a chest....Christine
That looks way too neat! I have to have some papers and notes ! Sales slips, whatever! :)
Yours looks so lovely! I will come add a little clutter for you!
Ooooh, Dear Pat! I love it! I can just imagine your marvelous view! Love your stacked books and little containers under the desk to hide cords! And that little stool! I love that little stool!
Your bedroom is so gorgeous and I remember when your redid it! Another lovely area and it looks just like you! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh what a great place to sit and work and compute. Great windows to look out and see the yard and get some wonderful light too. Your table, chair and all of your accessories are just gorgeous. It looks fabulous. Hugs, Marty
It looks like a soothing place to be. You are a lucky lady.

Just beautiful. I love the footstool. I think I can sit longer is I can put my feet up.
Carol
What a lovely space to create! It's time for me to reorganize & tidy *sigh*...thanks for the inspiration!
P.S. Duron offers Charleston Green in their historic paint line now :-)
Pat what a gorgeous, gorgeous space. It's just perfect, and so "you". I can hardly wait to have my own space to create again, and a corner will do nicely. I adore the photo of you and J in your sidebar taken at Sue's.
It looks lovely!
Manuela
What a beautiful area, Pat. I love being able to see outside while I'm painting.
How ARE you hiding all those cables and the CPU?! I have 2 routers, speakers, a printer- and 20 cables! LOL It is a maze that I've tied together with pipe cleaners to minimize the length of them, but they are still all hiding behind the CPU under the desk's knee area. Yours looks so neat and tidy! And the room is so serene, Pat.
hugs, Sue
Pat...what a great spot to create !! I bet the light is great there.
I have that same little trunk :)
All the best,
Kathy :)
Pat, it's all just beautiful! Lovely space for yourself. I adore that pillow too, perfect.
Hi Pat, I love your area. It is charming so, so peaceful!
Barb ♥
Pat;
Isn't it funny that the one thing that caused so much attention is that little stool? How cute. The whole space is just wonderful. I could move right in and set myself up at that desk. I love the whole look. Good for you.
Terri
It looks wonderful, Pat! Ready for creating in. I too am in that nesting mode. Can't stop arranging and organizing things for the life of me.
Brenda
Hi Pat! What a very nice spot you've created for yourself. I like the basket on the desk. I don't think I've seen one designed that way before, but I like how it looks like it is compartmentalized rather than being just one big opening. Your black framed glasses remind me of the readers I bought at Tuesday Morning {just to keep in my purse for checking small printed items at the stores}. Mine have a black frame facing out and the inside part of the frame has a leopard print.
Aha - I finally see where the master works! I especially like the little violinist that watches over your computer! Very nice. W.C.C.
You have a beautiful spot to blog!
BJ~ I love your new work space. It is so calm and serene and full of creative inspiration. Just beautiful!!!
You have layered things and elements so well. I just love what you have under your desk. So well organized and very very pretty!
This is great incentive and so many ideas for me too.
No wonder your posts are so fabulous!
Yvonne
Very lovely! Looks like a quiet and cozy space for some creative expression! I am a fellow Missourian, nice to "meet" you.
What a magical spot to write and create, I love how the light filters through your woven wood shades, just lovely !! Thanks so much for linking up today, it's so wonderful getting a peek into other's lives.
