~Capturing Roscoe & Camellias~

roscoe5 mollyA

roscoe2a Molly has several friends, in the neighborhood.  They include Daisy the Dachshund and King the Yellow Labrador Retriever.

Today, I’m introducing, next door cat about town, Roscoe.

Molly and Roscoe have been close friends for several years.

Roscoe came to the neighborhood when he was little more than a kitten.  It’s difficult to describe him as a stray cat; he’s so debonair.

Our neighbors’ granddog lived with them, several months, while their daughter and son in law were building their new home.

Champ was here, when we were building our home, in 2003. It was love at first sight for Champ (a Boxer) and Molly.  I believe she missed him as much as our neighbors did, when he moved to his new home.

When Roscoe wandered into our little corner of the world, a few months after Champ left, he was welcomed, by Molly, with open arms.  Roscoe soon learned to just roll over, if he saw Molly running toward him.

It wasn’t long until our neighbors adopted Roscoe.  Even though he’s an outside cat, he enjoys all the comforts of home.

Roscoe has regular Vet visits and has…umm..ahem…been neutered.

His territory seems to be the homes on our cul de sac and the farm, behind us.

Our back porch is Roscoe’s home away from home.

I’ve tried, on several occasions, to capture a close up photo of Roscoe, with no luck, until Monday morning.

While J and Molly were on their morning walk, Roscoe decided to visit the back porch. There he sat, on the ledge of the window, beside my desk.  I quickly grabbed my camera and managed several photos before he got that look in his eye.  I recognized the look.  He was preparing to leave, in a hurry.  It’s the same look I get from Molly when I try to take her photo.  It’s as if she’s thinking, there she goes again, trying to steal my spirit with that magic clicking contraption!

Isn’t he a beauty!

CAMELLIAS

Camellias remind me of beautiful chiffon prom and party dresses of the 1950’s. They also remind me of layers of heavily starched cancan slips, from the same era.

The following Camellia photos were taken at the Missouri Botanical Garden, Saturday February 20.

~Monday Wash Day and Other Adventures~

washdayB

While exploring, Wednesday morning, we stopped at Farris Market, in Camdenton, Missouri, where we saw this old washing machine, thickly planted with coleus, sweet potato vine and other plants. I couldn’t resist taking a couple of photos, then editing them in Photoscape, for Mosaic Monday.

Three older houses, in Camdenton. The house in the center is a shop. I haven’t visited the shop, but hope to.

The light colored brick house is for sale. I found it online. There were a couple of interior photos. Beautiful rooms.

The detail, in the darker brick, is wonderful!

CakeA

A dessert, I prepared for a get together, set against an Ozark sunrise.

The dessert is just plain old Dump Cake. Two cans cherry pie filling, one can crushed pineapple (drained), dumped into a sprayed 9x13 baking dish. Top the fruit with a 6 ounce package chopped pecans. Spread dry yellow cake mix over fruit and nuts and dot with one stick butter. Bake at 350 F, about 45 minutes or until crust is golden. Serve warm or cold, with whipped topping or ice cream. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

More mosaics are found at Little Red House, each Monday.

We ordered a quick lunch at Culver’s drive-thru, Wednesday afternoon. Molly had a tiny treat. I wasn’t fast enough to get a photo of the milk bone garnish. It disappeared very fast!

~A Nautical Table~

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Porch. Stop by Susan's beautiful porch for delightful tablescapes throughout blogland.
With wonderful warm temperatures, at the Lake of the Ozarks, we've been enjoying our meals on the deck. However, for this Tablescape Thursday, I set the table indoors beside the "new window".
There they are, those cute bird salt and peppers from Target. The small lidded container from Marshall's usually sits on the cabinet next to the sofa. The lifelike silk orchid is still available at Target. The napkin is folded into a flatware pocket. The fold instructions can be found at this Link.

Molly, enjoying the morning sun on the deck.

~Tablescape, Chocolates & Molly~

Sunday morning, I set the dining room table for a breakfast of french toast & fruit. I used bee dishes from Nell Hill's, small white platters, individual white pitchers, sitting on small Mary Carol plates, and inexpensive Target flatware. Napkins with apple napkin rings and a rooster and hen centerpiece, complete the table.

I was asked if we ever use paper plates. We make a conscious effort to use non disposable dinnerware and cloth napkins and have for several years .

More tablescapes, for Tablescape Tuesday, can be found at Susan's, Between Naps on the Porch.

While we were exploring Lebanon Missouri, recently, we visited Heartland Antique Mall and the Russell Stover Outlet. We were very very good at Russell Stover. Only one small sample and no purchase.
At the antique mall, I found a blue, yellow and white plaid vintage luncheon cloth and napkins. I love these small tablecloths and look for them, in particular. In the past I collected a variety of textiles. These days I generally look for luncheon table linens.
While in Lebanon, we also visited Shepherd Hills Outlet, where I saw lots of Spode. I'll post those photos, soon.
Molly is so gracious to share her seat, with packages, when I am in makeover mode and on shopping sprees. Because she is such a sweetheart, we treated her to Andy's Custard, in Osage Beach, last week. Andy's has special little cones for pup's. This time, rather than the tiny cone, Molly was treated to a scoop in a bowl. In the collage you can follow Molly's visit, to Andy's, from the anticipation, when she realized where she was, to her enjoyment of this special treat.

I rarely get cuddle time, with our eldest granddaughter, Xanti, these days. Saturday afternoon, at Drew's birthday party, was one of those rare times. We had a chat about her photography (she's amazing) and her plans. Xanti snapped this photo with my little camera. I love it!
We've returned to the lake for more painting. Hoping to finish the front room, this week.
